FIS personnel recently met with Associated Press Engineers at the White House where they were able to see FIS fiber optic products in action.  Mike Gates, of FIS, and Derek Curtis, of FIS Blue, toured the facilities that the national news media use when covering news conferences from the White House. In fact, the first equipment rack that the team saw upon their arrival belonged to ABC News and had a FIS Rackmount installed.

The FIS team also visited "The Pool," which was once the presidential swimming pool built during President Roosevelt's term. Years later, the pool was emptied and a concrete floor was installed over the top to support a new Press Room.  The spacious interior of the pool is now used as an equipment room, which is filled with cable and patchcords, including fiber optic cable and patchcords supplied by FIS.

The FIS team also had the opportunity to see the outdoor setups that are used by national TV news anchors when they cover White House news and events. They visited the White House Press Room where they observed the "fixed cameras" used by the major news networks and they were shown the different camera stakeout positions in front of the West Wing.

While in the Baltimore/DC area, Mike and Derek also visited customers who were interested in purchasing fiber optic Tactical Cable Assemblies from FIS Blue. FIS Blue is an affiliate of FIS, which provides the specialized fiber optic and hybrid cable assemblies required by the Broadcast Industry and the U.S. Military.
