FIS Awarded Patent For Fiber Fence Perimeter Technology

Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc. (FIS) has been awarded a patent on its Fiber Fence Perimeter Monitoring System.

The patent recognizes the unique nature of the Fiber Fence system which combines OTDR technology with mechanical triggering devices called Mouse Trips. The hybrid technology enables Fiber Fence to monitor great distances (up to 80 Km) and the system can be tuned to virtually eliminate false alarms.

The sensing medium is fiber optic cable, which can be installed on existing fencing. An alert occurs when an intruder causes a disturbance to the fiber, or to the fence to which it is attached. Fiber Fence is relatively inexpensive, easy to install, and no power is required along the perimeter.
