Question: I inherited a FIS 24 Port Heat Oven with thermometer and quite a few hot melt 3M connectors, but no instructions. From a 3M download, I noticed the 3M oven unit has a load adapter that one uses to insert and remove the connector from the oven port. Is the FIS oven similar? Could you give me some basic info on how the oven is used?

Answer: The FIS 24 port heat oven is designed for standard epoxy connectors. The oven has a maximum temperature of 150 degrees C, and there are different blocks available which will fit each connector style. The oven block feature built in stops to allow the connector to sit in the center of the oven without passing through to the bottom and breaking fiber stubs. Unfortunately, this oven cannot do the Hot Melt connectors. Hot Melt connectors require a temperature of 260 degrees C. FIS does offers hot melt ovens in 6, 12, and 14 port versions.
