- A Wave Division Multiplexer or WDM is a fiber optic coupler that has had its coupling region modified so that the light from two wavelengths can be demultiplexed, or split, into separate output fibers. The WDM enables the proper signal to be channeled to multiple devices operating at different wavelengths.
