AFLs new FAST connectors are pre-polished, field installable fiber optic connectors that eliminate the need for hand polishing in the field.
Each FAST fiber optic connector includes a pre-stubbed factory polished ferrule that couples to the optical fiber being terminated by precision mechanical alignment. Low loss is further achieved with a proprietary gel.
Each FAST fiber optic connector comes with a factory-installed wedge clip that holds the clamping device open while fiber is inserted. Once fiber is in place, the wedge clip is removed and discarded. Fiber is terminated and ready to be plugged in.
Also available is the FAST Tool Kit, which includes tools used for terminating with FAST fiber optic connectors. Two cleavers available for the Kit are 92208-TB (for multimode connectors) and CT-30A (for singlemode connectors). The FAST Tool Kit includes Instruction Manuals for both SC and ST FAST Connectors, a Fiber Strip and Cleave Template, Marker Pen, Fiber Stripper, Kevlar Scissors, Fiber Prep Cleaning Fluid, Lint Free Cloth Wipes, Assembly Video and Carrying Case.
