Enclosures

Fiber Optic Enclosures are often referred to interchangeably as patch panels, interconnects, or wall and rack mount enclosures. These enclosures provide a secure location to store fiber splices, bulkhead adapters, spare fiber, and passive optical components. They also offer an easily accessible point to troubleshoot the fiber, add additional connections, or upgrade the fiber connection. Many interconnect and splicing enclosures are designed to accommodate adapter plates and/or splice trays, and also include cable management components to route incoming fiber. A fiber optic enclosure is also frequently defined by how many bulkhead adapter plates, splice trays, and/or overall fiber ports it will accommodate. Protection, access, organization, storage, increased network performance and saving space are key design elements to consider when selecting an enclosure.
