Fiber Optic Cutting Tools

When cutting Kevlar®, you need a cutting tool with very durable blades. You also want the tool to cut cleanly, and to fit comfortably in your hand. FIS offers six Kevlar® cutters that fit the bill. The Kevlar® cutter, F1-KS1, features serrated blades and high leverage cutting, utilizing long cushioned handles. The Miller Kevlar® cutter, F1-9809, also features serrated blades and cushion handles.

The dual “V” notch blade allows the quick removal of outer jacket. Plier nose, along with cushion grips and spring release are additional features making this stripper comparable to the Ideal T-Type® Stripper.

The US Conec Optical Cable Jacket Removal Tool eliminates the need for sharp tools such as Exacto® knives or razor blades for cable jacket removal. The tool is designed for quick, reliable, economical removal of PVC jacket from ribbon interconnect cable, 3mm round cable and 2 fiber zipcord.

The disposable ribbonizing tool utilizes a quick cure cyanoacrylate adhesive to provide a low-cost, robust ribbonization option. This solution is ideal for applications requiring excessive handling and multi-row termination applications.

The tool closes around the ribbon fibers, as the ribbon settles into the proper slot. With actuator depressed, the tool slides along a length of the ribbon, separating the length of ribbon that is needed into smaller ribbon counts. The tool has slots to separate the ribbon into the following smaller ribbon counts: 2/2, 2/4, 2/6, 4/4, 2/10, 4/8, 6/6, and 12/12.

The FAT-04 features an easy-to-use fiber arrangement method utilizing linear travel. The FAT-04 includes a spare paste applicator to allow ribbon making to continue even if one of the paste applicators needs cleaning.

The S220A uses two finely positioned blades to shave the matrix off the top and bottom of ribbon fiber while leaving the individual fiber jackets untouched. After the matrix is removed, the fibers separate out easily by hand. For use with 300 and 400µm ribbons of 2 to 12 strands. Blade life is 1,000 separations.

This unique thermal stripping kit includes the patented “Soft-Strip” thermal stripping system and contains components for stripping from 4 to 12-fiber ribbon of various constructions: ‘Bonded’, ‘Encapsulated’ or ‘Ribbonized’ types. AC adapter sold separately.
