FIS MPO Test System
YOUR INSTALLATION NEEDS TO WORK AT IT'S MAXIMUM CAPABILITY
You need to have the right fiber optic MPO test system to verify that.
We can help you choose the correct equipment.

HOW TO OPERATE AN FIS MPO TEST SET
FIS MPO TEST SYSTEM
MPO testers measure optical loss. Today the demand for even higher speed means you need to make sure that your network is being installed and operating at its maximum capabilities. As the fiber optic industry continually expands, the demand for increased reliability and speed are a must. This is where our MPO Test Set comes in. Testing with an MPO has become very common. You should feel at home using one. This is one way you can prove to a network owner that you are meeting their requirements. As they must meet the customer demands.
Choosing the correct piece of fiber optic equipment can be challenging. We can help. The FIS MPO TEST SYSTEM can test singlemode and multimode fiber.
SINGLEMODE FIBER - LOSS AND DISTANCE
Is optical fiber that is designed to carry a single ray also known as a single mode of light. It is usually designed with a narrow core of about 8 to 10 micrometers. This type of fiber is generally used for signals that need to travel long distances, up to approximately 125 miles and carry a very high bandwidth signal. A reasonable loss for singlemode fiber is approximately 0.35dB for about .6 of a mile for a 1310 nm source. It would be .25dB for a 1550nm source.
MULTIMODE FIBER - LOSS AND DISTANCE
On the other hand multimode cable is constructed to carry more than one light wave or mode. The core size for multimode is gener-ally made in two sizes 50 microns and 62.5 microns. Multimode optical fiber is used for shorter distances than singlemode. It is most often used for applications of up to 1-1/4 miles. It usually carries a bandwidth of up to 1GHz, which is much less than singlemode cable. The acceptable signal loss for this type of fiber would be approximately 3 dB loss for 850nm and 1dB for 1300nm for .6 or 1 k
NOW THE TEST
PRE-TERMINATION GUARANTEE - What guarantee?
Remember, optical fiber that is factory pre-terminated is guaranteed. However, that is as it was tested in the manufacturing facility. All sorts of issues happen to a cable between that facility and its' final installation. This cable must be tested after the installation.
TESTING OPTICAL CABLE-It's a must
Because of its size testing can consume quite a bit of time. Remember, that optical fiber is about the size of a human hair. Our MPO tester will provide the technician with link attenuation readings over 12 fibers of the MPO/MTP ferrule in just 5 short seconds. The FIS MPO TEST SYSTEM will assist the technician in certification by measuring efficiently, quickly and accurately the correct location of each fiber and attenuation. Remember, "time is money"... and the FIS MPO TEST SYSTEM is built to save you time.
