Head End / Central Office

In every central office, whether a remote centralized facility or a primary facility, you will find fiber optics components and active equipment necessary for connecting the FTTx network to the community. This environment-controlled cabinet or network room is used to power up the Optical Line Terminal (OLT). Outdoor Fiber Management Center

The Fiber Management Center (FMC) is a NEMA-rated, completely passive enclosure designed to interconnect fiber optic cables. The FMC comes in three sizes to accommodate any port size and stores custom-designed LGX footprint High-Density Splitter Modules for any PON architecture. Each cabinet includes a metal template for PAD Mount installation and all pole/wall mounting hardware.

Drop Cable Termination

Drop cable is the main focal point of the network that shapes the final external link between the Provider and the Subscriber. Flat drop cable consists of a polyethylene jacket with 1, 2, or multiple fibers paired with 2 dielectric strength members giving it a high crush resistance for direct bury applications. FIS can install various connectors on drop cables such as the Corning Optitap, compatible ZTAP, or standard SC/APC for easy installation in either a Multi-Service Terminal (MST) enclosure or one of the many FIS Outside Plant Drop Termination Enclosures.

Customer / House

Usually located on the side of the house is a demarcation point often referred to as a Network Interface Device (NID). The NID is an outdoor rated box that allows a smooth transition from the flat drop cable to an indoor/outdoor rated cable that extends to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
