Providing an excellent solution for both field and factory splicing applications.
FITEL SPLICERS
An industry workhorse. Fitel means portability and reliability even under the toughest conditions. These splicers are designed with rugged field conditions in mind. An internal battery system allows up to 200 splices in just one full charge. A great lightweight, low profile design with a wide chamber that allows you to load prepared fibers even under harsh or cramped conditions. Added features include shock, drop, water and dust resistant. (See each model for specific features). These fusion splicers come with a hard carry case for easy storage and transportation.
Fiber Holders - Fitel’s fiber holders are designed to exacting tolerances. This attention to precise manufacturing helps the fiber load correctly and accurately. Designed to be used specifically with Fitel fusion splicers. Holders are purchased in pairs.
Electrodes - These are a consumable that are used on a fusion splicer and they must be replaced on a regular basis. High temperatures used in the fusion process will begin to wear the tip of each electrode. Unless you replace the electrodes you will begin to induce increased attenuation each time a splice is attempted. This is one place you do not want to skimp. Always use the manufacturer’s replacement electrodes. The type of material used here makes the difference. After-market parts are usually substandard and will cause problems with this important function.
HOW DOES FUSION SPLICING WORK?
The process is straightforward. Heat is applied to fuse optical fibers. A fusion splicer uses an electrical arc which melts two pieces of optical fiber to form one continuous piece of fiber. When the splicing is done correctly the fusion splice will minimize back reflections, which are the light that is reflected back to the source after it encounters an imperfection in the fiber.
