Are you new to fiber optics? Or, do you want to improve the fiber optic skills you already possess? If so, FIS has the course for you!
Our two-day Fiber Optics I & II Course provides the knowledge you need to work with today's fiber optic applications. The course combines hands-on training with fiber optic theory to make your learning experience as meaningful as possible.
Your training will cover the fundamental tools and techniques required to connectorize fiber, test fiber optic networks, and splice fiber optic cable. You will have the opportunity to use over two dozen tools, including high-end fusion splicers and test equipment.
Training is provided by our nationally renowned instructor, John Bruno. John is in high demand because of his effective teaching style, as well as his expertise in both fiber optics and computer technology. John is also known for his wit and humor, which keeps the course as lively as it is informative.
After completing a brief test the end of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion attesting that you have completed this recognized course of instruction in fiber optics.
The instructional manuals used in your training are yours to keep. They can serve as handy references throughout your fiber optics career.

Security systems represent a growing market for contractors and installers. For those locations where there is sufficient enrollment, FIS can add a third "security training" day to its two-day Fiber Optics I & II Course. Topics in the FIS Security Training Program include the company's innovative StrikeZone security system. StrikeZone uses fiber optic sensors to provide backup protection when camera imaging becomes impossible due to fog, blizzard, heavy rain or destructive acts. The training covers all StrikeZone components, including advanced fiber optic cameras and video recorders with motion-detection and remote-view capabilities. At the heart of the StrikeZone system is the company's patented Fiber Fence Perimeter Monitoring System. Course completers become authorized Fiber Fence installers.
Our two-day Fiber Optics I & II Course provides a broad range of subjects for fiber optic installers. If you would like the course conducted at your place of business, we can tailor course content to the needs of your employees. For example, training can be customized to focus one or more of the following areas:
• Connectorization Techniques
• Test Equipment Operation
• Fusion Splicing
• OTDR Operation
• Fiber Optic Theory
• LAN Applications
• Security System Training

Testimonials
"This was actually one of the better training classes I've been to. Very nice"
- Billy
"Gillian and I want to tell you how useful the training sessions that John Bruno conducted in Las Vegas. The seminar was well thought out, well organized and very well presented. Thank you for the opportunity to attend; it has given us new viewpoints and concepts. It was so useful that I think we will consider attending another session next year just as a refresher and to support our aging memories."
- Larry Rothrock - Photran
"I've been in fiber for 6+ years and have had my own production line. I took the fiber class to freshen up on what is new. I felt knowledgeable when I went into the class, but ended up learning more than I expected. The instructor is very knowledgeable and personable."
- Eric McNulty - Thor Labs
"The fiber class was enjoyable and informative. The instructor was very knowledgeable and conveyed the information well."
- Dan Huchins - Oregon Electric Group
