FIS SINGLEMODE MALE-TO-FEMALE ATTENUATORS

FIS male-to-female attenuators contain doped fiber suitable for both Singlemode wavelengths 1310nm and 1550nm operation. Fixed attenuation values are available in 1dB increments from 1 to 20dB. FIS stocks standard 5, 10, 15, 20dB attenuation levels in most styles.

TO SPECIFY ATTENUATION LEVEL REPLACE “XX” with desired attenuation level ex. 01=1dB, 02=2dB, 03=3dB, 04=4dB, etc. (Attenuators up to 20dB in stock.)

FIS SINGLEMODE BULKHEAD FEMALE-TO-FEMALE ATTENUATORS

FIS Bulkhead Attenuators utilize a wavelength sensitive neutral density filter to achieve attenuation. Available in 5, 10, 15 and 20dB values. Select from 1310nm or 1550nm options.

VARIABLE ATTENUATORS

This Variable Attenuator uses collimator lens technology enabling the user to change attenuation through the twist of a top-mounted screw. Use this variable attenuator to simulate the loss in a fiber system or testing your system’s dynamic range. A power meter and light source can be used to determine the fixed attenuation value your system requires. The attenuator has a 0.8dB typical insertion loss and is available in a 2 meter length and may be connectorized. A low back reflection style is prepared with ultra PC connectors maintaining the internal low back reflection characteristics. Attenuation range: 0.8dB to 60dB.

AIR-GAP VARIABLE ATTENUATORS

The Air-Gap Variable Attenuator has a ceramic alignment sleeve that provides a low insertion loss of .15dB and can be used on both multimode and singlemode applications. Included tool provides ability to increase attenuation to desired “level”. Device may replace mating sleeve at the patchpanel, enabling variable attenuation levels to be introduced to the system. Attenuation range is 0dB to 20dB.

FIS IN-LINE FIXED ATTENUATORS

The FIS In-Line Fixed Attenuator is built to meet your low reflection attenuation requirements. Each cord is custom built to accommodate up to 10 meters of cable and the connector styles of your choice. The 5dB and 10dB versions hold a +/-.5dB tolerance with the 15dB and 20dB holding a 1dB tolerance. Please specify operating wavelength. The in-line attenuator provides negligible back reflection and is therefore recommended for use with UPC or APC style patch cable.

FIS 3-STEP ATTENUATORS

The FIS 3-Step Attenuator is a completely passive device and achieves attenuation by exceeding the recommended bend radius specifications of the fiber cable, including ClearCurve fiber, without introducing back-reflections. This unit is designed for 3mm jacket types and a wavelength of 1310nm, but can also be used with various jacket sizes and wavelengths with varying attenuation levels. Use any combination of the three loops to achieve desired attenuation levels.

FIS CLIP-ON VARIABLE ATTENUATOR

The Clip-On Variable Attenuator is a completely passive device, which works by physical attenuation of a 3mm jacketed singlemode cable. May be used with smaller jacket sizes however, attenuation performance may vary. It can be attached at any point in a cable, providing attenuation levels from 0 to >47dB at 1550nm (0 to >21dB at 1310nm) and low back reflection. Good for hundreds of uses, and leaves no lasting effects on the cable. Dimensions: Length = 1 1/2”, Diameter = 3/4”

FIS ST, SMA OR FDDI FIXED ATTENUATORS

The washer style attenuator is placed at the light source, spacing the mated connectors to cause attenuation. The attenuators of various thicknesses are not assigned specific dB values, several factors will dictate actual loss.
