FIBER FENCE Sensors, Cable & Accessories

FIBER FENCE OPTI-MAG COVER COP SENSOR

Opti-Mag Cover Cop is sealed and contains a powerful internal magnet and spring mechanism that allow light transmission through the fiber only when it is positioned with the metal target such as a gate, door or manhole cover. (A metal plate must be installed if there is no metal for the magnet to sense.) When the target is moved away from the Cover Cop, a bend will occur in the fiber optic cable and the event will trigger the alarm. Once the target is returned to its' original position, unrestricted light transmission through the sensor is restored. Each Cover Cop is rated for 10,000 cycles and must to be spliced into the optical fiber cable.

FIBER FENCE MINI MOUSE TRIP SENSOR

The FIBER FENCE Mini Mouse Trip is a passive device designed to be mounted to the fence. When mounted at 50 feet max intervals, it secures the fiber to the fence, and will create attenuation triggering an alarm when the fiber or fence is disturbed. The Mini Mouse Trip does not require a manual reset and can continue to provide protection when the systems is restored.

FIBER FENCE SIMPLEX BEND SENSITIVE FIBER

The FIBER FENCE Security System utilizes bend sensitive fiber optic cable MAKING THE FIBER A SENSOR! Simplex fiber (single fiber in one jacket) is used in a loop to the furthest point on the fence and returns to the Zone Control Unit. Depending on the installation, every inch of the fiber can detect attenuation as small as 3dB.

FIBER FENCE DUPLEX BEND SENSITIVE FIBER

The FIBER FENCE Security System utilizes bend sensitive fiber optic cable MAKING THE FIBER A SENSOR! Duplex fiber (2 fibers in one jacket) is used for a single strand FIBER FENCE. Using a Loop Back Module, installed by FIS, a single cable can be mounted to a fence. It can also be used to monitor an Opti-Mag COVER COP on a gate, door, manhole cover, metal valve or lever.

FIBER FENCE SPLICING KIT

Unlike a traditional electrical wire security system, an intruder cannot easily reconnect or bypass the optical fiber used in the FIBER FENCE Security System.
In the Splicing Kit, we provide you with all the necessary products and procedures that will give you the ability to reconnect or perform a splice to repair your system in the field. This can eliminate any additional service cost(s) that an outside technician may charge for repairs. The picture is an example of items contained in the Splicing Kit.
This kit contains (4) FIS Splice Protection Sleeves for Mechanical Splices, (4) 1/4" Copper Tube Straps, FIS Mini Visual Fault Locator with 2.5mm Adapter, FIS Field Termination Cleaver, FIS 3 Hole Jacket Stripper, (12) FIS Mechanical Splices, (24) FIS Isopropyl Alcohol Pre-Moistened Towelettes 4"x6", FIS Lab Splice Blister Pack of 12, Clear Super Glue Single Tube, FIS Logo Soft Case, Instruction Manual, 25 meters of Fiber Fence Cable with FC/UPC connector installed.

FIBER FENCE CORNER GUARD

When installed directly to the fence, the FIBER FENCE Corner Guard makes it easy to mount fiber around bends and corners. It insures the bend angle is correct to prevent damage or attenuation.
Keep costs down by storing lengths of fiber at the start or end of your FIBER FENCE Security System using the Corner Guard.

FIBER FENCE
Cable Overview
FIBER FENCE Security System utilizes either simplex or duplex bend sensitive fiber optic cable which has a UV-protected jacket for longer life. Shorter lengths of cable that need to be lengthened must be spliced with cable or a patch cord which can be provided. Overestimating length slightly will help avoid using a patch cord. The excess cable must be coiled with no bends.
Please note: If the simplex cable is selected for the installation, the fiber optic cable must go to the furthest point, make a loop, and return to the Zone Control Unit. If the duplex cable is used, it must be spliced at the end so that it has the equivalent light return back to the Zone Control Unit.

FIBER FENCE
OPTI-MAG Sensor Overview
Opti-Mag Sensors are sealed and contain a powerful internal magnet and spring mechanism that allow light transmission through the fiber only when it is positioned in the specified proximity to the selected magnetic target (ie. gate, door, manhole cover). A metal plate must be installed if there is no metal for the magnet to sense. When the target (metal gate, etc.) is moved away from the sensor, a bend will occur in the fiber optic cable and the event will trigger the alarm. Once the target is returned to its’ original position, unrestricted light transmission through the sensor is restored. Each Opti-Mag Sensor is rated for 10,000 cycles and must be spliced into the fiber fence fiber cable.

FIBER FENCE
Mouse Trips Overview
The Mini Mouse Trip is a passive device mounted to the fence line and the fiber. When the fiber is disturbed, it reduces the flow of light. The Zone Control Unit will then set off the alarm. It does not require manual reset at the location but allows minor disturbances to reset automatically.
